It's winter in Kodiak, and while some of us have holidays to celebrate in the next few months, it can also be a cold and lonely time of year. There are many ways to stay positive and be healthy, both physically and mentally. We see Christmas everywhere in Kodiak even though not all of our students celebrate it. Many of the holiday activities around Kodiak can still be fun and entertaining. I will keep updating my calendar of events, but be sure to check the local paper. Getting out of the house and experiencing something new is a nice way to fill a rainy, dark day!
I CHALLENGE you to do something new and different! Be an explorer and discover Kodiak this winter.

November 28--Thanksgiving Day. This is the perfect holiday because it doesn't matter who you are, where you are from, or what color you are. This holiday celebrates being thankful for what we have. Make your favorite meal and light a candle.
Thank you for being my students!

December 7, 10 am - ? Father Christmas and Babushka
Father Christmas and Babushka will be hearing wish lists and spreading good cheer. Bring your cameras and we'll help snap a family picture with the jolly pair in front of our Kodiak bears. There will be free admission to the museum, a children's craft activity and a great sale in our gift shop. Stop by and warm up around the samovar!
While this is aimed at the holiday season, it's also a good time to see the museum's collection of materials showing Kodiak's history.
For more information contact the Baranov Museum at 486-5920.
